Proposed changes
The Mead Educational Trust (TMET) is proposing changes to the Brookvale Groby Learning Campus
admissions policy for the admissions arrangements for the 2027-28 academic year and subsequent
years. The changes are:
1. Existing policy put into TMET template
2. Oversubscription criteria – addition of criterion 5 for children eligible for Pupil Premium
Earlier in 2025, TMET ensured all its secondary schools included this oversubscription criterion in
order to qualify for the Sutton Trust Fair School Admissions Award. This is a pledge to ensure that
all young people, regardless of their background, have a fair opportunity to attend top-performing
secondary schools. This change is to bring BGLC in line with the other TMET secondary schools.
The number of children in this criterion differs across the schools depending on the planned
application number (PAN) and the average percentage of Pupil Premium children across the Local
Authority. For the county schools in TMET (BGLC and Kibworth Mead Academy), we have set the criterion at
18% of PAN to match the local authority average percentage for Pupil Premium. The PAN for
BGLC is 255, giving 46.3. Oversubscription criteria – addition of criterion 8 for children of staff
All TMET schools have this criterion.
4. Post 16 admissions
Replaced ‘interview’ with ‘meeting’ to reflect the purpose of this.
